Abstract

Silvia Reyes Maya, veterinarian and teacher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), describes the way she became involved in the rescue work in the wake of the September 19, 2017 earthquake, first in the group of brigade members called “Veterinarians in the earthquake “and afterward, due to several circumstances, she becomes the veterinary of Titan, the canine binomial of a firefighter rescue worker from Silao, Guanajuato. Her action area was basically in the building of the Tlalpan multifamily complex that collapsed and where this canine binomial managed to locate alive more than 25 people. The pointing that Titan made with his handler was recognized by the brigades of Japan and Israel. In a committed manner, the author has joined the brigade of the leading rescuer and anonymous hero who has been Titan‘s trainer.
